Set up your practice station
Why daily
- 15 min every day beats 2 hours every Sunday.
- Fingertips: calluses build from frequent use and soften after a week off.
- Motor learning: skills consolidate between sessions, mostly in sleep. Seven sessions, seven rounds.
- Momentum: a fixed slot survives a busy week.
Pick a time and place
- Anchor it to something daily: after dinner, first coffee.
- Guitar on a stand or hook, never in its case.
- Chair or stool without armrests.
Check your kit
- Tuner: clip-on or free app. Tune first, every session.
- Metronome: any app. Goals are tempos (“clean at 60 BPM”).
- Log: notebook or phone note.
- Timer: your phone.
Hear it
Every lesson page has a metronome. Press start and feel 60:
Practice vs playing
- Practice: what you can’t do yet. Buzzing change, slow pinky, 10 BPM above comfortable. Slightly frustrating by design.
- Playing: what you already can do. The reward. Do it after practice.
- A comfortable session was playing.
Run each session as a practice block, then a play block:
Log it
One line a day:
Mon 20 · 15 min · chromatic warmup · 60 BPM · ring finger lagging
Write today’s entry, even if it’s “set up my practice station”:
Where you’ll use this
- Notes on the neck: a few minutes of note drills, daily.
- Dexterity: metronome tempos and logged progress.
